I’m reading a book by Derek Prince which actually is a good one on the Holy Spirit called "Transformed for Life".
Today I was driving to work and thinking on some of the stuff I read this morning. And I started thinking on where I’ve been, where the Father has led me and I realized if it wasn’t for where I’ve been- and much of it was hard, lonely road- I wouldn’t be where I am.
I remember one of my teachers saying how it’s almost offensive when someone comes up to him asking him to lay hands on them so they can receive the anointing he has. It’s offensive because it cost him dearly to get it.
I know what he meant by that now.
I would say the same thing to anyone asking that of me.
You want my anointing? Then face being ostracized by your loved ones- and then having to humbly go and ask them for help after you’ve completely fallen on your face in the mud. Face financial hardships, health scares and those precious to you dying. Face everything you thought you wanted taken from you till all you have left is this one thing … you alone Jesus are the one I can count on to never forsake me. Then maybe ask me to impart some of what I have.
But here’s the clincher, by then you won’t have to come and ask me to receive an anointing, because you’d have already received it from the one who bestows them.
No matter what it looks like, you ARE exactly where you are supposed to be.
And btw, like that old gospel song says, I wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now.
Nothing.
